Air support environment - The ultralight aircraft of the Comoé National Park in order to fly

24 March 2023

In October 2022 Aviation Sans Frontières took charge of the steps to ensure that the Bat Hawk ultralight aircraft in the Comoé National Park, in Côte d'Ivoire, was in flight order.

To do this, Aviation Sans Frontières has collaborated with the ultralight aircraft pilots of the Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves (OIPR) trained on the advice of ASF in 2022, with the National Civil Aviation Agency of Côte d'Ivoire ( ANAC) and an Ivorian consulting firm.

The ultralight Bat Hawk, initially registered in South Africa is now customs cleared, insured, registered in Côte d'Ivoire. An inspection visit by ANAC was carried out and the test flight was successfully carried out, which made it possible to obtain the identification certificate and the airworthiness review certificate. The two OIPR ULM pilots, holders of a French license, now have an Ivorian ULM pilot license.

A new adventure can begin with, in particular, the reinforcement of the pilots' skills in ecological monitoring, aerial surveillance, dropping of loads... the establishment of a network of aerodromes in the Comoé National Park, which covers more than 1.300 .000 hectares (more than a third of the area of Belgium) and obtaining an aerial work permit for the OIPR.
